Cycling and Wine Tasting in Malepère - Domaine NJC

Come and join us for a great cycling and wine-tasting event. We will start from Bellegarde and do around 50 km with a stop at the tiny but highly authentic and high quality winery the Domaine NJC for a wine-tasting session with food and visit. The route is a little hilly in places but is open to cyclists with a reasonable level of fitness but the pace will be leisurely. It will be easy on an e-bike. Bring your own bike or I do have a selection for loan subject to a small contribution to my maintenance costs (mtb 10 euros, e-bike 15 euros).

The Domaine NJC is a one-man operation (except for seasonal pickers) with only 4 hectares both locally and in the Pyrénées Orientales run by Nicholas Coates, He is Australian qualified and has worked extensively in French wineries before starting his own. Since his production is so small, he has to charge the moderate fee of 10 Euros for the tasting of his high quality wines but provides food to accompany it and will be well worth the visit!

We will meet at my home, so a quick bike setup and then ride on a combination off-road tracks and quiet lanes The off-road technical difficulty is negligible except for the hills. The tasting session which is at 11:00 am, leaving the longer part of the ride for the return with a total riding time of around 3 hours.

Returning to my home we can have some lunch as an "auberge espagnole" on the terrace if possible, (everybody brings something to eat and drink), or go home directly, as you prefer.
