Mud Sweeter than Honey—Albania
For our non-fiction read about Albania, Mud Sweeter than Honey by Margo Rejmer plunges the reader into Albanian communism. It's an extraordinary portrait of a nation that won't leave you indifferent. A gripping literary reportage of an unknown little country with a unique legacy.
An essential read for those who would like to embark on a world voyage. Explore your world, know your world.
Winner of the Polityka Passport and Koscielski Award.
We’ll be meeting at the Barbican cinema 3 cafeteria (next to Côte Restaurant).
For our readings, we’ll be following this structure:
-First 15 minutes to get to know each other.
-A brief introduction about the author.
-Reviews/Criticism (we’ll explain why we liked or didn’t like the book).
-Quotes we may have found interesting.
-Questions. Everybody gets a chance to ask the rest of the group
any questions about the story. These are questions about one’s own observations, not necessarily doubts. The purpose is to stimulate the conversation and analyse the book.
