Controversial Skin & Men TUNISIAN Screening (Photography)
Gather up MENA fans,
This is a unique and controversial exhibition coming to London!
Bringing an intriguing area of North Africa and photographic art to you! Maghreb consists of 3 countries: Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia. The beauty of the landscape, the incredible heritage of the cities and of the population, makes it the perfect background for a riveting cinema.
We will not physically take you there; however, on Saturday 22nd September we are going to focus on TUNISIA (in London), one of the first African countries to produce cinema in the 20s and also to win the Palme d'or in Cannes in Protected content “Blue is the Warmest Colour” by Abdellatif Kechich. We will look at the unique exhibition; OF SKIN AND MEN (L'AMOUR DES HOMMES) by Mehdi Ben Attia
Tunis, today: Amel (Hafsia Herzi), a young photographer, has just lost her husband Nabil in an accident. Her happiness, living with her beloved husband in a beautiful family apartment, has turned to grief. Her father-in-law, Taïeb, encourages her to re-engage herself in her photography and she begins shooting a series of erotic scenes of male. Amel truly immerses herself in her work – she’s fearless and unafraid of scandal and chooses to look at men in the same way as men look at women.
We did promise controversial ;)
A close look at the war of sexes, gender relationship, men vs women, set in a now democratic country that still has to learn how to use and accept freedom.
Prior to the screening a delicious Tunisian buffet will be offered followed by a live concert by famous Oud musician, RIHAB AZAR.
