Canyoning. Benahavis Gorge

10.50 for a 11.00 start in Benahavis, normally takes about 2 hours total.

It consists of wading, swimming and occasionally climbing over boulders. A reasonable level of fitness is required. The rocks can be slippy so anyone with weak ankles needs to take care. There are jumps for the more adventurous. The recent floods have changed the geography of the gorge making it more challenging (and fun!) than previous years.The longest swim is 150m in still water but there are places to take a break. Most people do it in trainers and shorts; but a cheap short water sports wet suit (around €20 from Decathlon or El Corte and sometimes Aldi) is also good if you feel the cold.
Meet at the parking next to Parque torre Leonera (turn right at the first roundabout in Benahavis village and it’s Protected content on your left). We will go for drinks and tapas afterwards.
