Post-screening conversation with Noah Baumbach

Noah Baumbach shows off his knack for character study in this comedy about a modern New York family. Harold (Dustin Hoffman) is the egocentric patriarch concerned mostly with his underappreciated career as a sculptor. Living with his current wife Maureen (Emma Thompson), he gets a visit from his three adult children (Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller, Elizabeth Marvel). Interconnected vignettes portray a family of dissatisfied characters with complex neuroses and frustrations. The all-star cast lights up the screen, projecting humor, cruelty, and vulnerability. Special men1tion goes to Sandler for his affecting performance as a recently divorced father and would-be musician.

SOLD OUT FILMS AT MOMA ARE NEVER SOLD OUT. If you didn't get your ticket go to MoMA well head of time and wait on the standby line. Usually everybody on standby gets a ticket, HOWEVER the Contenders is a much attended series at MoMA. You need to be in the front of the standby line to make sure you get a ticket.
