4th Istanbul Chapter; the Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli
Last time, we stepped into the world of Niccolò Machiavelli, not as we wish it to be, but as it is. We moved past the surface of The Prince, seeing how power operates beneath virtue, where appearances are crafted and survival favors the perceptive over the idealistic.
This time, we return not to revisit, but to sharpen.
If our first session introduced us to Machiavelli’s lens, this one asks us to sit with its implications. What does it mean to truly accept that power rewards the cunning? That morality and success don’t always align? That leadership, more often than not, is a performance carefully managed?
And more importantly, what do we do with that understanding?
We’ll go deeper into:
The tension between appearance and reality in leadership
The balance of fear, respect, and control
The limits of virtue in a world driven by outcomes
Where Machiavelli draws the line — if he draws one at all
💬 THE SHARE & DARE
This is where it gets uncomfortable.
Not “Is Machiavelli right?” — but:
If he is, where does that leave us?
How do we reconcile our values with a world that often doesn’t reward them?
When do we choose the lion and when are we forced to become the fox?
Come ready to question, to challenge, and to engage not just with the text, but with yourself.
