Theater Play
Hello everyone!
Here comes the first theater event of the new season on the Asian coast.
“Şebbaz” is a play written by Ahmet Sami Özbudak, a contemporary Turkish playwright and theater director who has received several awards both for his play writings and his play directing.
The word “Şebbaz” comes from traditional Turkish theater vocabulary. "Şeb" means night in Persian. A Şebbaz is the master artist who performs shadow plays (like Karagöz and Hacivat) behind the screen, bringing shadows to life using light.
The story revolves around a powerful and influential figure, Muhterem Bey, who demands a traditional Karagöz shadow play for his grandson's circumcision ceremony. The performance is put on by Turna and Mehmet, two childhood friends who were trained by the same Karagöz master but have been deeply estranged for years.
This is a two act play in Turkish. It starts at 20:30 and lasts Protected content .
We will meet an hour before the play, at Protected content
