Dear Albatross,

Renée Nader Messora and João Salaviza have directed a another new film about the Kraho, an indigenous group in Brazil who have been fighting for their land and resisting colonial violence for decades. The film, which has a dreamlike quality, is called “The Buriti Flower”.

There will be a special screening of the film followed by a discussion on “Colonial violence and memory struggles”. The audience will be able to ask questions and participate in the exchange with the filmmakers, Leandro Varison (from Musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac), Leslie Cloud (a lawyer and researcher who specializes in the rights of indigenous people), and Sabah Rahmani (an anthropologist and journalist).

SYPNOSIS
Through the eyes of a child, Patpro travels through three periods in the history of his indigenous people, in the heart of the Brazilian forest.

Tirelessly persecuted, but guided by their ancestral rites, their love of nature and their fight to preserve their freedom, the Krahô never stop inventing new forms of resistance. Gender: Drama.
