Santo António Museum
Language: English
Duration: 1:30H
Dear Friends,
Join us on a journey to discover why Santo António (St. Anthony) is cherished as a beloved, versatile saint, a matchmaker, and even a figure of municipal celebration. Situated near his birthplace, the museum provides a fascinating look at his life, impact, and lasting legacy.
- Permanent Exhibits: Delve into the life and legacy of S. Antonio, exploring his religious importance, his role as Lisbon’s patron saint, and his association with love and matchmaking.
- Temporary Exhibitions: Enjoy unique displays featuring S. Antonio’s portrayal in advertising and popular culture.
- Interactive Spaces: Discover three intimate rooms showcasing artifacts, historical narratives, and multimedia presentations.
- Archaeological Site of Casa dos Bicos:
As previously discussed after visiting the Museu S. Antonio, we also include a visit to the Archaeological Site of Casa dos Bicos on the ground floor, which is a 5-minute walk to reach it. There, you will see:
•Roman ruins
•Islamic and medieval remains
•Fragments of the Fernandina wall
•Historical artifacts, such as ceramics and everyday objects from ancient inhabitants.
A fee for both places €5 is applied, collected at the beginning.
If you prefer not to attend the second part of our event, you are welcome to visit only the Museu S. Antonio. In this case let me know at the entrance, so you pay only €3.
Cheers
