I just came across an article today about Sintra Mágica, and it inspired me to propose this spontaneous but wonderful cultural outing for the group!

And since 1 December is also a national holiday — Restauração da Independência — it’s the perfect moment to gather, explore, and celebrate Portuguese history and Christmas traditions at the same time.

Restauração da Independência commemorates the day in Protected content Portugal regained its independence after 60 years under Spanish rule.
A group known as the Conjurados led a successful uprising in Lisbon and proclaimed D. João IV as the new king, restoring Portugal’s sovereignty and starting the Braganza dynasty.

It is a public holiday, and many cities mark it with celebrations — making our visit to Sintra even more meaningful.
