Modelos Vivos Da Lisboa Velha - Alfredo Roque Gameiro

This exhibition marks the centenary of the publication of Alfredo Roque Gameiro’s book 'Lisboa Velha', which comprises one hundred colour and black-and-white illustrations depicting various aspects of Lisbon—its streets, houses, people and customs—and brings to life what the city and its surroundings were like a century ago.

Alfredo Roque Gameiro (4 April Protected content Protected content a Portuguese painter and graphic artist. After the School of Fine Arts in Lisbon, he received a scholarship from the Portuguese government and attended the "Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst" in Leipzig where he studied lithography with Ludwig Nieper. He was a frequent contributor to several weekly and monthly periodicals and provided illustrations for a deluxe edition of The Lusiads, published in Protected content . Some of his designs appear on Portuguese postage stamps.
