CARNATIC COMFORT ZONE
The Berlin based group, Carnatic Comfort Zone is led by the renowned singer and percussionist
Manickam Yogeswaran on Voice, Flute and Kanjira and accompanied by Will Ramsay on Saxophone, Martin Lillich on Bass, Alexey Wagner on Guitar and
Dietrich Woehrlin on Drums.
The group explores South Asian music traditions through Yogeswarans music, which combines the poetry of Rabindranath Tagore and compositions based on the ancient Thirrukural text combining
some of the more unusual modes of the Melakarta ragas with modal harmony, improvisation and funky
bass lines.
