Origin of the cod cake: Portuguese heritage
Although the snack was born in Portugal, it is not known for sure from which region of the country it came. What is known is that the muffin has become a speciality of Mediterranean cuisine and today is also widely consumed in Spain, Italy and France.
But the popularity of this delicacy crossed the oceans and reached Angola and, of course, even Brazil.
The cod cake or pastel de bacalhau, as it is also known, is a dish that usually pleases all palates. It is served at tables in bars and bars, but is still on the menu of finer restaurants.
