Gerak: Malay Dance Symposium

Gerak (lit: to move) began from NUS
Centre For the Arts (CFA's interest to foster a deeper culture of learning and documentation of the arts in
Singapore. It is also part of a thread that lIsa Tari has established over the years in encouraging more dialogue concerning the role of Malay dance in society.
Presented by NUS CFA and lIsa Tari, the Gerak Symposium intends to provide a space for discussions and explorations on the evolving role of Malay dance in Singapore today.
Day 1 ofthe Symposium will look at the subject matter and the type of content being expressed through Malay dance performances in Singapore.
I will be there for the first hour of the program.
