Hortus Botanicus Botanical Gardens
If you like nature and green spaces you can combine a photography tour of Leiden with a visit to Leiden’s spectacular botanical gardens, The Hortus Botanicus.
We will walk to the gardens from the station via Windmill de Valk and Galgewater (Leiden harbour).
Established in Protected content , it is one of Europe’s oldest botanical gardens. It is a peaceful and relaxing green oasis where photo opportunities abound: magnificent centuries-old trees from round the globe, a large pond filled with lazy carp, Japanese garden, spectacular tropical hothouses, aquaria, a butterfly house, truly impressive collections of orchids and insectivorous plants, and much more besides. Whatever the weather and whatever the season, Hortus Botanicus will entrance and delight you!
We will spend two hours wandering round the magnificent gardens and greenhouses, There will be a pause for relaxed lunch at the superb café, with a chance to review and discuss our photos.
For those interested, it is a great chance to practice macro photography.
