In March Alison’s book choices take us to Corfu and England.

The first recommendation, The Corfu Trilogy by Gerald Durrell consists of book 1 – My Family and Other Animals, book 2 – Birds, Beasts and Relatives, book 3 – The Garden of the Gods. All three books are set on the island of Corfu in the Protected content , and tell the story of the eccentric English family who moved there. With hilarious yet endearing portraits of his family and their many unusual hangers-on, the books captures the beginnings of the author's lifelong love of animals.

Of course, you don’t need to read the whole trilogy, just parts of it will do 😊 Another option is to watch the series based on these books entitled The Durrells, available on Amazon Prime.

Alison’s second recommendation is The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory. When Mary Boleyn comes to court as an innocent girl of fourteen, she catches the eye of Henry VIII. Dazzled, Mary falls in love with both her golden prince and her growing role as unofficial queen. However, she soon realises just how much she is a pawn in her family's ambitious plots as the king's interest begins to wane and she is forced to step aside for her best friend and rival: her sister, Anne. Then Mary knows that she must defy her family and her king and take fate into her own hands.

Here again you have the choice to watch the Protected content starring Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson.

Happy reading, we are looking forward to our discussion!
