September Event - Little Women or Freud
The book choices for September follow on our very cultural summer.
To connect with our planned open air cinema event in August watching Little Women, our first recommendation is the novel written by American writer Louisa May Alcott. The story follows the lives of the four March sisters - Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy - and details their passage from childhood to womanhood. The story is loosely based on the lives of the author and her three sisters.
We have visited the Sigmund Freud Museum in June, so our second choice is The Tobacconist, a novel by Robert Seethaler, a Man Booker International Prize finalist.. The story describes the unlikely friendship of seventeen-year-old Franz, an apprentice at a tobacco shop and Sigmund Freud, during the Nazi occupation in Vienna.
