October Book Club - Sense and Sensibility (Book)
There is a new film adaptation of Jane Austin's Sense and Sensibility coming to cinemas in October. While we wait for the movie, let's (re)read the book.
Sense and Sensibility was the first novel written by Jane Austen, appearing in Protected content . It was published anonymously: By A Lady appears on the title page where the author's name might have been.
The novel is set in the late 18th century and follows the three Dashwood sisters and their widowed mother as they are forced to leave the family estate in Sussex and move to a modest cottage on the property of a distant relative in Devon. There the two eldest girls experience love and heartbreak that tries the contrasting characters of both.
This month we return to our old venue, Protected content . Hope to see you there!
