The action, which takes place in Naples, tells the story of Diana, Countess of Belflor. Diana is a beautiful and headstrong young woman who is harassed by several aristocratic suitors who wish to marry her. However, Diana constantly rejects all of their attempts.
One night, after watching her secretary make love to her favorite lady-in-waiting, she falls madly in love with him and becomes sick with jealousy.
This is the story of a love triangle, of forbidden loves and betrayals, that takes place when Naples was a Spanish city. Thus, the Countess' household represents that part of Spanish society that lived outside the country.
The fact of setting the action in this European city also allows the work to be full of Italian influences and plots that Lope de Vega was so fond of.
DON'T MISS THE CHANCE TO SEE THIS FAMOUS WORK OF SIGLO DE ORO THEATRE BY ONE OF HIS MOST NOTABLE REPRESENTATIVES, LOPE DE VEGA CARPIO.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PLAY IS ENTIRELY IN SPANISH AND TAKES PLACE IN THE ATMOSPHERIC SETTING OF CORRAL CERVANTES THAT AIMS TO REPRODUCE THE ORIGINAL STAGING OF 17TH CENTURY PLAYS.
