''The first marked walking trail in the Czech Republic, the trail from Štěchovice to the St. John Rapids, was marked on May 11, Protected content . This trail was created by members of the Czech Tourist Club and was a significant milestone in the development of hiking routes in the country. The trail was partially flooded by the Štěchovice reservoir in the Protected content , but the Czech Tourist Club has since worked to restore and maintain the original markings and historical signposts. The trail is now a popular destination for hikers and offers a chance to experience the beauty of the Vltava River and the surrounding countryside.'' (mapy.com)
We'll walk 15 km (mapy.com), following this trail high above the river, to Slapy dam. Then we go up a long, steep hill into the forest, with more beautiful views across the countryside before returning through woods to our starting point. Bring refreshment with you - nowhere to eat on the way, but we'll find restaurants / cafes in Štěchovice. You should wear hiking boots for muddy, uneven paths.
