Autumn Hike to Ondřejov Observatory

Let's explore more of the countryside that inspired Josef Lada. This time we will hike a circular route to reach the Ondřejov Observatory. In Protected content discovered an asteroid orbiting between Mars and Jupiter. They petitioned to give this asteroid the name Josef Lada.

We will take the train from Praha Vršovice to Mirošovice u Prahy. From there we will walk to Lada's hometown, Hrusice and continue through mixed forests up to the observatory, which is unfortunately closed on the weekends. From there we will return to Hrusice through more forests and lovely villages. We will stop in Hrusice at a pub for mid-afternoon refreshment.

The total distance of the hike is about 14.5 kilometers (9 miles). We hike uphill to the observatory with a total gain of about of Protected content . From there the hike is primarily downhill with a total loss of about Protected content . Please wear suitable trail shoes and bring hiking poles if needed. The walking time is about Protected content , so please bring snacks (or lunch) and water. It is also advisable to bring cash for refreshment stops.
