Dinner and Viewing of Alebrijes

Let's gather for a bite at Protected content in Downtown. Guess what? Parking is free at Protected content when you dine there. Enter on McKinney for the free parking. Make sure you don't park in the residential spots. After a bite to eat, we'll walk to Discovery Green to see Alebrijes. They are lit up at night.

Just a note, we might have to find street parking if Protected content closes at 9 p.m. and our visit extends.

This fall Discovery Green hosts eight, 20-foot tall sculptures depicting fantastic creatures from the spirit world as imagined through Mexican magical realism.

Designed and created by Mexican artists and artisans, these brightly colored animals represent the powerful animal guardian spirits of Mesoamerican folklore.

Inspired by Mexico City artist Pedro Linares, each sculpture is an enlarged reproduction of original works by celebrated Oaxacan artists.

The exhibition pays tribute to the exceptional craftsmanship of Mexican artisans, celebrates Mexico’s rich cultural heritage and highlights the connections between Houston and the nation across the gulf.
