WORLD OCEAN CELEBRATION - Dune Restoration
Help restore the coastal dune ecosystem with Surfrider Miami during World Ocean Celebration! This volunteer event taking place in Miami Beach invites participants to help rebuild and stabilize vital dune systems that protect against erosion, support native plant life, and provide habitat for coastal wildlife.
Working alongside environmental leaders and fellow community members, you’ll contribute directly to the resilience of our coastline while gaining a deeper understanding of the role dunes play in a healthy ocean ecosystem.
Are you already an environment conscious beach-goer? Great!!!

Important:
Participants should wear solid shoes and comfortable clothes (long sleeves and pants recommended due to prickly vegetation). All fitness levels are welcome, with tasks ranging from digging roots to carrying vegetation. Be sure to bring a hat, reef-friendly sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle or cup - there will be no plastic water bottles in keeping with Surfrider Foundation’s ocean-friendly practices. Bring a bathing suit and towel as well if joining for a swim afterwards!
Surfrider will provide all guidance and instruction (no prior experience needed), plus equipment including tools and gloves. Snacks (fruit and granola bars) and plenty of cold water will also be provided.
