Walking&Picnic on the Burgazada
This Sunday, we will be walking by the sea!
Join us on 3 th of April as we re hiking and having picnic on Burgazada. Burgazada "Fortress Island"; or Antigonē (Romanized) is the third largest of the Princes’ Islands, a single hill 2 km across. Demetrius I of Macedon, one of the Diadochi (Successors) of Alexander the Great, built a fort here and named it after his father Antigonus I Monophthalmus. The island took this name, but today is generally known by the Turks simply as "Burgaz".
We will walk around 8 km on the island. During our hike we ll have several breaks including a 90 minutes picnic as an extended lunch break at Madam Marta Beach. We will also have a break on Hristos Hill. The hike is expected to take around 5 hours (including breaks time) with 80 metres of ascent. This is an easy hike so everybody can attend. Please wear comfortable shoes and trouser. You should bring your own lunch and at least 1 litre water. If you have a thermos with hot water, you can enjoy your tea while relaxing in the woods of Burgazada.
