From Roman Fort "Saalburg" to Hessenpark and back
A TAUNUS DAY WITH HISTORY AND CULTURE
Come along for a circular hike starting out at the Roman Fort "Saalburg" with a lunch break at the famous Hessenpark. Germany's last emperor, Wilhelm II, ordered the fort to be carefully reconstructed. For those who still have time and stamina after our relatively easy hike, the expansive fortress and a museum can be visited which takes you back to the 2nd century AD when the fort was constructed.
Our hike will mainly take us through fall colored forest paths to the Hessenpark, a live open air museum showing many historic half-timbered houses and many craft shops. On top, there will be a farmers' market that day, with many offers of local produce.
Public transportation will start at Protected content
Everyone will meet at the arriving bus stop.
Any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Touring the Hessenpark and the Saalburg could take considerable time. Thus this likely will be an introductory visit for a later return.
