Raschpëtzer Qanat Loop From Walferdange
Dear Hikers,
The 'Raschpëtzer-Qanat' in Helmsange Forest is an underground aqueduct system for supplying drinking water to the former Roman settlement area in today’s municipalities of Walferdange and Steinsel. The system was built around Protected content . The technology of the Qanat (the underground water supply through the construction of tunnels and shafts) actually originates from the desert areas of Iran. With a length of Protected content and a maximum depth of 36 meters, the plant still has a capacity of Protected content meters of drinking water per day despite its very old age. The building is an important relic of Roman engineering.
