Hiking to Montón de Trigo
Winter is approaching and soon summits of Sierra de Madrid will be covered with a blank snow cover. Before this happens, it would be great to meet again for a morning hike.
This time we intend to reach the summit of Montón de Trigo. Starting from Protected content walking on the hillside of Siete Picos, we will arrive to the summit after 8km.
You can find the track at Protected content
It is mid November, and, although it is difficult to forecast weather for next week, temperature are expected to be cold (around 0º C in the early morning). You are expected to wear cold clothes, mountain shoes (either boots or trekking shoes), gloves and beanie. I will post weather forecast and conditions updates during the next week to keep you informed. The activity is easy-medium difficulty, we are supposed to be able to walk 16km and ascend around 800m.
For those not driving, there is a bus ( Protected content ) at Moncloa which takes around 70min to reach Puerto de Navacerrada.
We will meet around 9:00 at Protected content If we finish early, for those willing, we can go later to have lunch in a near by village (Cercedilla-Navacerrada-Los Molinos).
Given that public transportation to Sierra de Madrid is not very efficient, I strongly encourage to do car-sharing
