Zazen and Other Meditation - A Primer
Start: 16:00 CET / 10:00 EST / 23:00 HK
Several of you have requested a primer on meditation, and here it is. I will explain what I know about meditation and the specific process, as well as answer whatever questions I can, relying on the help of others in our meeting with relevant experience.
Although I have dabbled in other meditations, I am most familiar with Zazen (a practice originating in China in the late 5th cent.). I joined a Zazen group in college, purely out of curiosity. I did not like it very much! But when the 'master' told us: "If you are good at the things you don't like to do, you will be great at the things you love to", I stuck with it in the name of some well-needed self discipline. Eventually, I was able to do it, and it has made all subsequent 'esoteric' and psychological endeavors easier.... well... less difficult.
It is doubtful we will be able to actually practice Zazen during our Zoom meeting, but I will tell you everything you need to know in order to do it when you are alone and not distracted by the computer. Perhaps we will manage a simple, guided meditation together to give you the impression of how that works, inshallah.
Sorry, but you are not allowed to join this Activity Group!
