Follow in the footsteps of William the Conqueror and visit Hastings Castle. It`s a fascinating part of history and includes 'The Protected content - an exciting 20-minute audio-visual programme covering the Conquest and the history of the castle through the centuries.

In September Protected content , William the Conqueror landed at Pevensey and ordered the construction of a prefabricated wooden castle. He then moved on to Hastings and erected another. The ruins we see today are the remains of a stone fortress which was practically impregnable from three sides. Less than half of the original structure remains.

From the clifftops, we'll also enjoy awe-inspiring coastal views, which on a clear day extend from Beachy Head in the west to the famed white cliffs of Dover in the east. Liverworts, mosses, and lichens in the woodland and rare birds such as peregrines, black redstarts, and fulmars may be spotted on the clifftops.

Walk length: About 13 km / 8 miles return (duration: 3 hours)

This is a hilly and demanding hike with a lot of steep inclines, you need to be quite fit to join us.

Price: £5 for the guided hike paid on the day (cash) and £4.95 (Castle entry fee cash only)

Visit to the castle is not included, it`s up to you if you decide to join us.

Meeting point: We will meet at London Bridge station, next to the ticket offices. We can sort out the tickets together to get a Groupsave discount.

Meeting Time: 08:30AM

We will make our way to the platform at 09.05 am. If you're late I'm afraid we will not be able to wait and you will be missing the trip.
