Ready to Join?

Join us to explore picturesque Guildford countryside. The hike will feature several ascents and undulating terrain.

We'll make our way to the banks of the River Wey, pass one of the "Alice in Wonderland Sculptures" (Lewis Carroll used to stay in Guildford).

We then join a rising path and head towards The Church of St Martha (from the top of the hill on a clear day you can see 5 counties).

Then follow a route through woodland back to Guildford with a short visit to Guildford castle

HIGHLIGHTS

Walk along the delightful River Wey

Visit the quaint St Martha's Church-On-The -Hill (Highest point on the downs)

Hike through picturesque woodlands & the delightful Newlands Corner

Traverse Merrow & Pewley Downs

Pass the impressive grounds of Guildford castle

Bring a packed lunch / water / hiking shoes

This is a CIRCULAR hike

Walk pace: Brisk (This is not a leisurely hike, fit hikers only please)

Terrain: The hike to the top of St Martha's is a little steep and a good level of fitness is required

Distance: Approx 10 miles Protected content

Meet at: 11.00 am

Hike starts at 11.10 am

Meeting point: Just outside M & S outside the station main entrance

Hike finish time could be earlier (depends on speed of group)

Train: Protected content check train times the day before

Parking: there is parking available at the station and at Farnham Road car Park which is cheaper Protected content walk to the station).
