Halloween - a special Language Exchange!
How do you say "Trick or Treat" in Latin? Aut dulcia aut dolum
Or in Greek? φάρσα ή κέρασμα
What about Dutch? 'Je snoep of je leven' (this right, Rog?)
However you say it in your native tongue please come and share it with us at this special Halloween edition of the Tuesday Night Language Exchange.
Bring all of your 'ghouls', 'goblins' and 'ghosts' - your 'jack-o-lanters'! As I learn portuguese I'm always fascinated by how phrases and terminology of universal holidays and traditions translate from english.
Let's get back to this great resto/bar in Jardins - which it seems is now our default location as it has now supplanted our old standby in pinheiros.
For those who haven't had a chance to join us here yet this place has won 'best Sandwich' by Veja Comer & Beber two years in a row, and it's also a relaxed and fun place to have a beer or other drink. And though it's cozy it's also on the smaller side, so please please sign up only if you really intend to join us.
Feel free to wear a costume (ou seja, uma fantasia)!
Anyone who does will get a free drink (has to be a full costume though. Not just some pair of mouse ears or anything like that ;)
Looking forward to seeing everyone on All Hallows Eve!
