BONNARD -LES COLLECTIONS VOICI VENU LE TEMPS DU MIMOSA
This new exhibition of the Bonnard Museum offers a renewed look at the permanent collections thanks to an unprecedented catch, enriched by the arrival of paintings so far never exhibited to the public. These works, from private collections, come on deposit for several years, highlighting the trust and lasting support of collectors towards the institution.
The highlight of the exhibition is the exceptional presentation of Pierre Bonnard's iconic work L'Atelier au Mimosa, made between Protected content 1945, loaned for 14 months by the Centre Pompidou. This masterful canvas embodies the quintessence of Bonnard's painting at the end of his life: an intimate space bathed in light, where the interior of his workshop at Le Cannet dialogues subtly with the garden abounding with mimosas. Through a bold composition, Bonnard plays with planes, reflections, textures, in an almost abstract approach to reality.
The work symbolically finds its place in the very city where it was painted, a few steps from the artist's house-studio. This exceptional loan offers a unique opportunity to understand the meditative and luminous dimension of the Bonnardi universe.
