Exploring and Hiking a Natural Area Next to the Potomac River
Let's walk through the trails right next to the Potomac River, at Riverbend Park, in Great Falls. Tucked away in a remote river setting, Riverbend Park has more than Protected content of forest, meadows and ponds. Trails include a 2.5-mile portion of the Potomac Heritage Trail that links national and regional parkland. Nature lovers from all around come for the highlights, including spectacular river views, beautiful wildflowers and birds. The park features a magnificent display of bluebells in the spring.
Bird watchers will think they’ve found an avian heaven as there are more than Protected content of birds in or around Riverbend Park. More than Protected content been documented. Riverbend attracts migrating waterfowl.
Each species of bird is attracted to particular habitat and park habitats include woods, wetland, river, and lake environments that attract a broad range of species. Riverbend is a routine stopping point for migrating birds. Rain date is July 19, same time.
