Madrid, How Well You Resist
In this ocassion our proposal is a new approach to th History of Madrid through an interesting collection of photo montages where the public can see the same scenarios eight decades away and a very different background: Madrid battered by war and Madrid today.
Sponsored by the Office of Human Rights and Memory of the City of Madrid, the exhibition is structured around five chapters: The Life, The Journey, The Rubble, The War and The Blood. Each one is a description of the war, its impact on the daily life of its people trapped in a besieged city.
The author will shoot his target from the exact point and at the same time as other photographers did eight decades ago. Through a collage where the old and new images are superimposed, invites reflection on the Madrid of today and the siege of Protected content that suffered under the systematic bombardment of its neighborhoods.
The author, Javier Marquerie, can be said to have been born between cameras and photographs. His father, and part of his family, are great photographers and since he was very young this Madrid native has directed his steps to the world of audiovisual arts. After a while flirting with the video, the artist is dedicated exclusively to photography. He also participates in the Civil War archeology work at the university and regularly publishes his work in travel and environmental magazines.
Afterwars we may go and have some drinks (everyone pays their consumption) in the surroundings.
