Ebensee-Trauenkirchen – Exploring Panorama Hike

This is one of the routes from a book “Hikes around Salzburg” I just bought recently. The path is very popular so we will not be alone there.

The book and hiking reviews mentioning that an ascent of the great and small Sonnstein is one of the most attractive tours in the Salzkammergut: The peaks, which are easy to reach, offer magnificent views of Lake Traunsee and the surrounding mountain peaks, and I am inviting you to validate together if this statement is true!

11 km and about 720m elevations -classification difficult
You should be aware, that the way from the Great to the Small Sonnstein leads via rope-secured section mostly along the mountain ridge.
My estimate that the hike will take 5 hours without lunch break, but I plan to have enough time to enjoy the view so we will have longer pause by the two peaks and also in Trauenkirchen, my plant that we will take the train back from Traunkirchen and be back at 20 or 21 o`clock at the latest, so we will have more time around the lake as we spend on the train.

Everybody is responsible for his/her safety and doing the hike her/his own risk. You will receive a link to the track. There is no guide on this hike as none of the organizers are an expert hiker just having some ideas of the routs and destinations. If you don’t agree and do not want to be fully responsible for your safety, you should cancel your attendance. More details regarding meeting time and location will be sent to the signed-up participants.
