Secret Agents in Estoril -- Lunch (Optional) and Spy Tour

During World War II, the Costa do Sol attracted wealthy refugees, diplomats and foreigners passing through the safe haven on their way to the US and England. It also attracted spies from both sides. Germany's opted for the Hotel Atlantico, Grande Hotel do Monte Estoril and Hotel do Parque, while the Allies preferred the Grand Hotel de Italia in Monte Estoril and Hotel Palacio. Author Graham Greene was a collaborator, as was Ian Fleming, who worked for British Naval Intelligence. Our guide, Marisa Filipe, will fill us in on the intrigue in the places where it occurred. An optional lunch at 12:30 PM will precede the Spy Tour at 2:30 PM (14:30).
