The Greece in Rome Art Exhibition in Italian Guided Tour
MANDATORY RESERVATION IN ADVANCE
The exhibition presents over Protected content Greek masterpieces, tracing the encounter between Greek and Roman cultures and their lasting impact on Western aesthetics. Sculptures, reliefs, ceramics, and bronzes—some shown for the first time, others returning to Rome after centuries—are reunited at Villa Caffarelli to highlight the beauty and material purity of Greek art. The exhibition Greece in Rome follows three key phases in the reception of Greek art in Rome—early imports, Mediterranean conquests, and the age of collecting—showing how artworks changed meaning and function as they moved from sacred and funerary contexts to public spaces and aristocratic homes. Highlights include the reunited Capitoline bronzes, the stele from Grottaferrata, the Niobid sculptures from the Horti Sallustiani, and newly discovered Attic ceramics from excavations near the Colosseum.
