Historical walk “spina di borgo” meeting point in front of church Santa Maria in Traspontina (via della conciliazione )
For the reform of the entrance to the Holy See the Italian government decided, in Protected content , to demolish 600.000 cubic meters to establish the new “via della conciliazione”
By doing so many historical premises like churches, squares, and historical buildings disappeared or were transformed.
Among many of them, it is worth to evidence the following:
- Palazzo Caprini where Raffaello spent his last years
- palazzo del Governatore a beautiful renaissance building projected by Giuliano da Sangallo
- piazza Scossacavalli, next door to St. Peter rich of history and memories of nobles and facts.
