TURNER - THE SUBLIME HERITAGE. EXPOSITION EXTRAORDINAIRE !
In the summer of Protected content , the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, in collaboration with the Tate, will unveil the exhibition Turner, the Sublime Heritage. Presenting a set of leading works in a new scenography of more than Protected content , this exhibition will be an invitation to a journey through the sublime representations of Joseph William Turner's world, from his landscapes to the elemental explorations of light and atmosphere of which he was a precursor and master.
Turner's decisive influence on painting will be juxtaposed in the exhibition with interpretations of the Sublime by great contemporary artists such as Mark ROTHKO, Cornelia Parker, Jessica Warboys or John Akomfrah.
Turner is perhaps the best-loved English Romantic artist. He became known as 'the painter of light', because of his increasing interest in brilliant colours as the main constituent in his landscapes and seascapes.
