Brussels, Guided Tour in English
Let's take a walk through the center of Brussels and get acquainted with the wonderful architectural heritage of the city.
We will be transported to Belle Époque and Les Années Folles and admire the facades in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. Recently, the Belgian architectural heritage of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as the period between the two wars, has been rethought and appreciated by lovers of beauty.
From the second half of the 19th century, Belgium became an industrial power. This is a time of urban transformation and social change. New types of buildings are appearing in the city center: the old narrow, medieval streets and the winding Senne River are being replaced by wide boulevards and new streets. The old markets are being replaced by galleries with fashionable shops. People come to the center to go to the cinema, sit in cafes or stroll along the illuminated boulevards, and visit fashionable Art Nouveau shops. We will see the cafe of the Metropol and many other places of interest including two Horta buildings. We will see the Statue of Liberty in the city center, which few people notice. Let's find out what was located on Rue Neuve (New Street) in the modern Zara store. We will see the facade of the 30s in the former printing house of the socialist newspaper “le Peuple” - the people, in the style of Modernism, and with today’s relevant slogan: “So that the people read!”
