Jonathan Swift's monologue is a whiplash to our indifference. Without fuss, with measure and moderation, an infallible solution will be proposed to us to put an end to the poverty around us. Swift's text, cooked over low heat, is a surprising social reflection and at the same time a gastronomic spectacle, entertaining and friendly, like a television programme. Although such gastronomic satire may end up causing poor digestion in some.
The play is based on a critical essay written in Protected content , which presents a satirical reflection in which Swift, author of the novel Gulliver's Travels, proposes solving the problem of poverty in Ireland.

There, peasants were unable to feed their children because the landowners were inflexible when it came to collecting rents. After deliberating about the problem, Swift suggests a solution: that parents sell their children to rich landowners to eat.

The society of the time did not understand Swift's satirical intention, earning him harsh criticism for his bad taste and departing from the theme he really wanted to highlight: hunger and the injustice of poverty.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PLAY LASTS 60 MINS AND IS ENTIRELY IN SPANISH.
