BOOGIE LADIES SHOW
Cili MARSALL, Katharina ALBER (both piano and clarinet)
Stride piano? What is it? Unlike boogie-woogie, where the left hand plays the ‘rolling bass’, stride piano is a jazz piano style in which the left hand alternates between a single note and a chord played an octave or higher, whilst the right hand plays the melody. The left hand takes on the bass and harmony function by playing octaves or tenths in the lower registers and chords in the middle register.
Two ‘fun’-tastic boogie-woogie and stride pianists – Cili MARSALL and Katharina ALBER – will enchant us with their skill, performing both classical pieces and their own compositions on the piano and the clarinet.
