PURE HEART : Traditional Art Reimagined through the Story of Simcheong
The Korean literary classic Simcheongjeon is reborn in a new light, infused with the beauty of traditional Korean aesthetics. The Korean folktale Simcheong, rooted in the tradition of pansori,
tells the story of a devoted daughter, Simcheong, who casts herself into the Indangsu Sea to restore the sight of her blind father, Sim Bongsa (Sim the Blind).
Fifteen-year-old Simcheong,
who lost her mother at a young age, offers herself in exchange for Protected content of rice (about 43,200 kg) to dedicate to Buddha in hopes of restoring her blind father's sight.
She then casts herself into the Indangsu Sea and perishes, only to be miraculously reborn, ascend as an empress, and ultimately reunite with her father.
