We will walk at a regular (but not too fast) pace through the forest from Fontainebleau to Barbizon Protected content one way) and we will normally come to Barbizon at around 2 pm. Before entering the village, we will find a spot for a picnic not far from one of the naturally shaped rocks that make the Fontainebleau forest so famous.
Afterwards, we will discover the charming painters' village of Barbizon school: Corot, Millet....
To get back to Paris, we can :
1) once again walk through the forest back to the station (so, Protected content
2) take a bus from Barbizon to Fontainebleau station (there is one bus per hour)
Please wear good hiking shoes (the path will be muddy) and bring at least 1 l of water and a snack.
Why Barbizon? Because this picturesque village became the center of attraction of "pre-impressionist" painters in the second half of the 19th century. They were interested in painting every-day life of ordinary people, mostly peasants, farm animals, ordinary not-so-exotic landscapes.
