Jacksonville: Walk for Peace Celebration
Join us for a peaceful gathering inspired by the teachings of the Venerable Buddhist monks led by Bhikkhu Pannakara and their companion Aloka.
We will meet at the Mandala in RiversEdge Park on the Southbank along the river for a Loving Kindness meditation and a Walk for Peace.
During the gathering we will share reflections from the monks’ teachings, meditate together, and walk the mandala as a symbolic practice of letting go of what no longer serves us and strengthening what we wish to cultivate within.
Afterward we will walk together along the riverfront to Friendship Fountain and back to the Mandala, focusing on our breath and spreading loving kindness to all. The walk is about two miles.
Walking barefoot in the mandala is welcome.
For those who wish to support the Walk for Peace initiative, donations can be made through their website.
