Traditional Pita Cut
At the beginning of the year, we use to "cut the pita". It is a special cake, made for the occasion. Don't confuse it with the gyros pita. The word "pita" generally refers to something that is flat.
The pita is cut to pieces so that every one gets one. In one of the pieces a coin has been put and the person who finds it is supposed to be lucky for the whole year. This coin is accompanied by a small symbolic gift.
At the venue you can have coffe and brunch and try tyro-pita (cheese pie) or spanako-pita (spinach pie), or anything else.
There is no partcipating fee, you just pay for what you consume.
But, is 1st February the beginning of the year? Well, don't forget that we are a Greek-Culture Group. Opa!
