Well one hop at least…

Did you know there are quite a few leisure islands in the Espoo archipelago that can be reached by public transport? Let's try one out!

Gåsgrund isn't big - it's about 500m across at it's widest point - but it's close enough to the mainland to be reached easily, far enough away to be relatively peaceful and has enough variety to be enjoyable for a few hours.

Relaxing, grilling, swimming, birdwatching and just enjoying the view are the main attractions.

Public transport gets us there, the public ferry takes 1hr 50 mins from Kivenlahto or 3hrs if you choose to cruise all the way from Otaniemi, either way you get to enjoy a boat ride and take in the scenery there and back. Whichever route you choose you'll get at least two hours on the island.

You'll need weather-appropriate clothing, something to eat and drink, and whatever else you wish to bring - swimming gear, towel, hammock….

Weather is a factor here, we will cancel or move if the conditions are unsuitable.

Please note - public ferries can get busy especially on sunny weekends. There are no reservations, it's first come first served!
