Chicago Maifest in Lincoln Square
Chicago's annual German-American street festival with live entertainment, food and fun is back! Following several years of construction, this popular event returns to its traditional location at Lincoln & Leland Avenues, right in the middle of Lincoln Square's beautiful new pedestrian plaza.
Maifest is the traditional German celebration of the arrival of spring. It's still celebrated throughout Germany with the maypole decorated to show off the history and crafts of the local village or town, and it's celebrated in the heart of Chicago's German community.
This event features live German polka music (including all of Elvis's greatest hits), dancing, pretzels, encased meats and, of course, beer.
I'm posting this as an FYI for anyone interested more than as an official event. I'll be there Friday & Saturday but the event runs all weekend. Feel free to get in touch if you're headed that way. If you're taking the L, the Brown Line stop at Western is right at the entrance to the event.
