Żejtun Heritage Walk - Discover This Gem in The South of Malta

Dear members,
Do not miss the next FAA (Flimkien għal- Ambjent Aħjar) walk which will be held in Żejtun, a town in the south of Malta. This is a gem of a town as it offers several architectural and historical gems. The walk will be led by architect Ruben Abela who also forms part of another NGO - Wirt iż-Żejtun (Żejtun Heritage).
Meeting at the entrance of Protected content Perit Ruben Abela will introduce walk participants to the urban development of Żejtun and its characteristics.
From there we will walk through the il-Gwiedi area up to the main square, Misraħ Girgor Bonici, for a historical overview of the parish church complex. We then walk through narrow and serpentine Żejtun streets to the hamlet of Bisqallin then back to the starting point through Triq il-Madonna tal-Bon Kunsill.
The tour will highlight interesting architectural and historical aspects of several buildings, to illustrate the social-cultural diversity through different periods and areas of Żejtun, and their impact on the built environment. Our walkers will appreciate this diversity and distinctiveness in the urban fabric and the way that its preservation and restoration have contributed to the authentic character of Żejtun.
