Festival Concert: Haydn Missa Cellensis (Cantata Mass) From 1766
The church where I grew up has a fantastic music program and there is a special free concert this Sunday night. From a website: The Transfiguration Choir, soloists and orchestra will present Joseph Haydn’s Missa Cellensis in C in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Hob. XXII:5. This rarely performed “cantata mass” composed in Protected content , is a tour de force for strings, winds, chorus, and vocal soloists. The 55-voice Transfiguration Choir will be joined by a 24-piece orchestra with Elizabeth McGee, soprano, Erin Roth Thomas, alto, Eric Lewis, tenor, and Connor Lidell, bass.
